This Fall semester, International Studies students have the opportunity to attend a seminar given by TSC alumni Yassin El-Ayouty on international law and human rights in the Middle East. The deadline has passed, but there will also be an opportunity to meet Dr. El-Ayouty on Monday, September 16 at 4 pm in the Library Auditorium, where other TCNJ Fulbright scholars will also be Skyping in. All students are welcome!
Four IS students will be selected to attend four Wednesday lectures at Dr. El-Ayouty’s NYC office on these dates: October 23, October 30, November 6 and November 13, 2013. Students will hear Dr. El-Ayouty speak about his experience with international relations, specifically in North Africa, for which he was commissioned by the United Nations.
Originally a Fulbright scholar at TSC in the 1950s from Egypt, Dr. El-Ayouty obtained his Bachelor’s in education from the Teachers Institute of Cairo, Egypt and his Bachelor’s in psychology from TSC. He then went on to get his Ph.D in international law at New York University (1966) and later his J.D (1994). Dr. El-Ayouty is also the Founder and President of “The Center for SUNSGLOW” (the Study of the United Nations Systems and the Global Legal Order). The Center provides training for those seeking to better understand international law and judicial systems.
His blog, on which he discusses several current event issues related to international affairs, especially of import to Egypt, can be found here: http://tahrirforever.blogspot.com/2013/08/with-regard-to-second-egyptian.html
