Spoken Word Poetry Slam Tuesday, October 5 at 7PM

Intercultural Center

From the Division of Inclusive Excellence:

The newly established Intercultural Center will be hosting its very FIRST event tomorrow night (Tuesday, October 5) at 7PM on the second floor of Roscoe West Hall!

My Voice, My Power is a spoken word competition that welcomes performances from any member of the TCNJ campus community! This poetry slam will be an opportunity for aspiring poets to share some of their work with a chance to win one of several prizes. We will also welcome anyone who wishes to perform for the experience and exposure.

To commemorate the opening of the Intercultural Center in Roscoe West Hall, the poets will be asked to reflect on the theme of “How I Rise” – sharing some of their reflections on their cultural heritage and strength.

The event will be featuring award-winning poet and playwright, Alyea Pierce, who will perform some of her own work, in addition to sharing her thoughts on the importance of arts, culture, and belonging. You can find some of her work on YouTube and Instagram.

There will be free food, giveaways, and more! Sign-up to attend or perform at bit.ly/myvoicemypower by tomorrow!

Note – you do not need to RSVP in advance to attend, please feel free to come by when you are free! Please note that TCNJ is adhering to strict social distancing protocols and requires the wearing of face masks inside buildings at all times except when attendees are seated and dining. Space may be limited to ensure everyone’s safety.
