HSS Awards for Academic Excellence
Every year the School of Humanities and Social Sciences selects outstanding seniors in each major and in each minor that does not have a major for recognition for academic excellence in their chosen field. The group gathers together for an evening in which faculty who have mentored these students present their students with the award, telling stories about the students’ accomplishments.
All degree candidates who complete 3 or more course units [=12 credits] (other than additive credits) in a semester with assigned letter grades and who have earned a 3.5 GPA that semester are eligible to be included in that semester’s Dean’s List. Pass (P) is not an assigned letter grade and may not be used toward meeting the requirements for the Dean’s List. –As indicated in the College’s Undergraduate Bulletin
Dean’s Award for Excellence in the Liberal Arts Laureates
The DAELA laureates have been community advisors, campus ambassadors, peer mentors, and tutors on our campus, helping their fellow students. Our laureates are also leaders: they have held numerous leadership positions on campus: in student government, in their student organizations, and social service organizations.
The last year for this award was 2015.
