Favorite thing about TCNJ and HSS

How welcoming the HSS environment is! I had a smooth transition to the HSS/Psychology Department after switching majors in 2023. Since joining, I have been able to participate in research and take advantage of all the opportunities that are offered in order to build my resume and confidence (as an introvert)! The HSS Department has truly allowed me to grow as a student and person!!

Favorite spot on campus

The Student Center on the 2nd floor - in the mornings! It is very quiet and relaxing and I am able to get a lot of work done. I also like studying in the library on the 3rd floor for the same reasons.

Advice to new students

Use your first year as a learning experience for EVERYTHING!! You will run into challenges along the way and that is completely normal. Everything will work out in your favor no matter how long it takes. Make sure you have or find a support system because it will make your transition a lot easier when you have genuine people in your corner. Celebrate your successes (big and small). Be patient with yourself and learn what your interests are and think about how you will better yourself within your undergraduate years. Follow your own pace, learn from your mistakes, step outside of your comfort zone, and most importantly, HAVE FUN!!
