April 22 at 12:30: Dr. Kim’s “Un/Silencing Memory: A Transhistorical Approach to Monuments”

The International Studies Program presentation with Dr. Patricia Kim of NYU has been rescheduled for Friday, April 22, 2022 at 12:30 pm on Zoom.
Dr. Kim will present “Un/Silencing Memory: A Transhistorical Approach to Monuments.” The visible redaction of public symbols is a form of iconoclasm that differs from other modes of physical destruction or erasure on material, aesthetic, and conceptual grounds. Drawing on archaeological and heritage discourses, this talk explores the stakes of public symbols in matters of historical and contemporary political violence.
