Over the weekend of October 19th to 20th, TCNJ Mock Trial’s A Team competed alongside thirteen other schools at La Salle’s invitational tournament. The team competed in 4 rounds, being scored on 7 ballots in total. By the end, TCNJ Mock Trial’s A team won 3 ballots and tied on another ballot (The tie counts as 0.5 of a ballot), scoring a total score of 3.5 out of 7. With there being 4 months left until Regionals and another invitational along with a few scrimmages left to be had, TCNJ Mock Trial Club’s President, Amelia Laubsch, has confidently declared her belief that TCNJ has a chance to advance past Regionals in upcoming February.
Along with this, at La Salle’s invitational tournament, TCNJ Mock Trial’s A Team took home the Spirit of AMTA award. As described by the American Mock Trial Association: “Since 2000, the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) has recognized the team that best exemplifies its ideals—civility, justice, and fair play.” This award comes not from judges, but rather, from the other teams that a school competes against.
Finally, a warm congratulations to Amelia Laubsch (pictured on the left), who received an Outstanding Plaintiff Attorney Award with 15 ranks. When asked, the senior felt “honored to have left this invitational with this kind of recognition from the judges.” Again, congratulations to TCNJ Mock Trial’s A Team and their efforts at La Salle’s invitational tournament!
