From Courtrooms to Sponsorships: TCNJ Mock Trial’s Stellar Fall Semester

Throughout this semester, TCNJ’s Mock Trial Team continues to shine! After La Salle’s invitational tournament in October, TCNJ Mock Trial Club’s President, Amelia Laubsch, confidently declared her belief that TCNJ has a chance to advance past Regionals in February. When recently meeting with the senior Political Science major, she shared what an eventful semester the club had, including:

  • TCNJ’s B Team scrimmaged against two teams this semester: Fairleigh Dickinson University and Rider. Winning against FDU and tying with Rider, the B Team has been working on perfecting their case theory to prepare for regionals.
  • In addition to these competition experiences, members of TCNJ Mock Trial went to the Federal District Court of New Jersey in Trenton and met with Judge Georgette Castner in her courtroom (pictured below). Judge Castner attended TCNJ as an undergrad, Rutgers Law, and is the youngest District Court judge in the history of the District Court for the District of New Jersey.
  • TCNJ’s Mock Trial Club raised almost $3,000 in sponsorships this semester! Cruz Gold and Associates was a notable sponsor, donating $2,500 to TCNJ Mock Trial with plans to donate more to the club in the spring.

Besides this, when discussing the club’s plans for the upcoming spring semester, Laubsch reassured that the Mock Trial Team is prepared to reach for the stars. They will be consistently practicing throughout the Winter Break and into the spring semester, meeting between two to four times per week. When they come back, TCNJ’s Mock Trial Team will have more scrimmages scheduled with schools like NJCU, the University of Delaware, and possibly Drexel. Their regional competition dates are February 22nd and 23rd at Princeton University.

TCNJ’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences warmly wishes the Mock Trial Club the best of luck with their preparations and upcoming regional competition!
